First Nations, Inuit and Métis funding
Most Indigenous post-secondary funding is community-administered — the right application path depends on your community, not a central government form. This page routes; your administrator decides.
The main routes
- Post-Secondary Student Support Program (PSSSP) — apply through your band council or designated administrator; local priorities and deadlines apply.
- Inuit Post-Secondary Education Strategy — through your regional Inuit organization.
- Métis Nation Post-Secondary Education Strategy — in Ontario, through the Métis Nation of Ontario; can include tuition, books, living costs, childcare and travel.
- Indspire — Building Brighter Futures — one online application covers hundreds of bursaries and scholarships; deadlines August 1, November 1 and February 1.
- Ontario Indigenous / Métis student bursaries — through participating schools' financial-aid offices.
- ISET — skills training with wraparound supports (childcare, transportation) through local Indigenous service-delivery organizations.

Nine Indigenous Institutes in Ontario are institution award hubs in their own right — see Schools. Six Nations S.E.E.D. awards support STEM and apprenticeship learners from the community.
